Lavaca Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice describes what information Lavaca County Released Inmates receives, how that information is used, and when it may be shared. It covers searches routed to outside providers, messages sent directly to us, routine technical data, and cookies. It also explains security limits and choices available to visitors. By continuing to use the site, you accept the practices stated here.

Information You Send

Terms Entered in Searches

When you type a name, location, or other detail into a search tool, that query is transmitted to the third-party provider that operates the search. Lavaca County Released Inmates does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider’s handling of a query is governed by its own privacy terms.

Emails and Contact Messages

If you email us or submit a contact form, we retain the message and the contact details supplied with it so we can respond. We do not share those communications outside our organization unless disclosure is required by law.

Information Collected Automatically

Basic technical information is recorded when a page loads. It helps operate the site, diagnose faults, and understand general traffic patterns. The information may include:

  • The internet protocol address associated with the request
  • The browser name, type, and version
  • The device category and operating system
  • Pages viewed and time spent on them
  • The referring website, when one is supplied
  • The date and time of each request

Cookie Use

Cookies may be placed to measure how visitors move through the site and to support site functions. Most browsers let you reject or delete cookies. Blocking them may cause some features or preferences to work differently.

How Information Is Used

Collected information supports a limited set of operational purposes:

  • Keeping the website available, stable, and responsive
  • Sending search requests to the appropriate outside search provider
  • Learning which Lavaca County release-resource pages visitors find useful
  • Finding, testing, and correcting technical problems
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect a visitor’s interests

Websites Beyond Our Control

Pages may link to the Lavaca County Sheriff and Jail, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, parole and probation resources, federal or ICE systems, other government portals, and third-party search tools. Once you follow an outside link, the destination’s privacy policy and data practices apply. We do not control those practices.

Some advertising partners may use their own technology to measure activity across different sites and select interest-based ads. That tracking occurs on the partner’s systems, not ours.

Parties That May Receive Data

We do not sell personal information. Information may be made available only to service providers or authorities with a defined role, including:

  • Search partners that process a submitted query
  • Analytics providers that measure site use
  • Advertising networks that deliver or assess ads
  • Law enforcement or another government body acting under a valid legal order

Steps Used to Protect Data

We use standard administrative and technical practices intended to protect information from loss, misuse, or unauthorized access. No internet-connected service is completely secure. We therefore cannot promise that a breach, interception, or other security failure will never occur.

Visitors Younger Than 18

This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor has sent personal information, a parent or guardian may use the Contacts page to request its deletion.

Your Privacy Choices

Subject to applicable law and our ability to verify the request, you may ask us to:

  • Provide a copy of personal information we hold about you
  • Correct personal information that is inaccurate
  • Erase personal information maintained by us
  • Stop or limit certain processing where an opt-out right applies

These choices cover information controlled by us. Official records held by the Lavaca County Sheriff, a clerk, TDCJ, or another agency remain subject to the Texas Public Information Act, Government Code Chapter 552, the agency’s retention rules, and any lawful sealing or expunction order. Requests about an outside provider’s data must be directed to that provider.

Changes to This Notice

We may revise this Privacy Notice as practices, services, or legal requirements change. The revised wording will be posted on this page and identified by a new effective date. Continued use after posting is governed by the updated notice.
